The Galaxies Blog: News and Upcoming Performances

The Galaxies, a Northwest rock band, was founded in the 1960s in Tacoma, Washington, at Stadium High School. The first rock band to ever play for a dance in Stadium High School, The Galaxies became one of the house bands at the Red Carpet Teenage Nightclub in Tacoma, and went on to record for Etiquette Records and Jerden Records. The Galaxies performed throughout the Northwest from 1962 until 1968. Check out the Northwest Rock Band site for more on other Northwest bands of that period.

The original Galaxies formed in 1962. These photos were taken at the Red Carpet Teenage Nightclub in 1963.

The Galaxies received national attention via Billboard magazine for their two signature 45's, covers of "I, who have nothing" and "On the beach."
